Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC)

If you have been impacted by COVID-19 and are quarantined and unable to work, or your workplace has been temporarily closed, assistance might be available through the State labor programs. The Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DLIR) will do all that they can to ensure that impacted Hawaii workers receive the benefits for which they are eligible for. Maui County residents 60 years or older, their spouses of any age, and grandparents 55 years or older who are raising grandchildren may be eligible for the Feeding Maui Nui program. Eligible participants receive vouchers that can be exchanged for meals at designated food trucks and restaurants. Interested participants should call the Office of Aging at 808-270-7774. Administered by the Maui Food Technology Center in partnership with the County of Maui Office of Aging.

Maui County homeowners impacted by the coronavirus pandemic can get more information about housing and financial assistance programs from the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has new coronavirus-related distribution options and rollover rules for retirement plans and IRAs and expands permissible loans from certain retirement plans. For example, qualified individuals affected by COVID-19 may be able to withdraw up to $100,000 from their eligible retirement plans, including IRAs, until December 30, 2020.

The LWA is a federal program, authorized in August 2020, that adds $300 of unemployment benefits for up to 6 weeks. Child Care Subsidies and Preschool Open Doors

The Department of Education's Grab-and-Go meal program provides free meals at 203 public schools in Hawaii to children who are 18 years old or younger, public school students or eligible for free or reduced-price lunch program. Hawaii Gas announced it will resume late fee charges for all customers starting January 4, 2021. Customers in need of assistance should contact Hawaii Gas to discuss payment options or arrangements. For more information, visit the Hawaii Gas COVID-19 webpage.
